The Eyes Of Texas Are Upon Me.

Boy it's good to be home...even if it is for just a short time and under not too good of circumstances. The trip home from Oklahoma City was quick. I was blessed with great weather again. It stormed last night up there, but when I got on the road I had scattered clouds above me with blue sky peeking through. I got out pretty early, about 5:30 AM and headed south on a very familiar highway, Interstate 35.

As I was going through the southern part of Oklahoma I passed the Arbuckle wilderness, Turner Falls and Lake Murray. It reminded me of a camping trip, the only one we EVER did as a family. Tommy and I had camped many times, and we had finally convinced the girls to go on one. We set up our tent at Lake Murray and visited Arbuckle, where Julie had a very traumatic experience with an ostrich. Then we went over to Turner Falls and looked at the dinosaur tracks. That was all pretty good, but that night a tornado touched down in the middle of Lake Murray and we had to make a mad dash for our car as a foot of water was running though our tent. I took the family to a nearby hotel for the night and that was the last time any of the women in my family ever went camping. Anyway, all that memory flooded back to me as I was rolling through south Oklahoma.

I was really happy to cross the swollen Red River into the promise land...better known as the GREAT state of Texas. I made it home by 8:30 and was able to get some good work done.

Keep checking the blog, I'll update it as soon as I'm back on the road. Thanks for reading, and for the comments. Blessings to you and keep me in your prayers this week.

Sunrise over south Oklahoma.

A really happy sight!

  1. Welcome home, son. You (even with your beard) were a very welcome sight. Praying for you on the road (and home).

  2. Psalm 5:11-12
    But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
    Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
    Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.
    For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous;
    With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

    Psalm 59:16
    But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble.

  3. Hi Tom,

    This is your lifetime pal, Ted Steinmetz and I'm impressed beyond words with your amazing sense of adventure, language skills, love of family, humility, common sense, and appreciation of God's world through your dynamic descriptions. I've been following your blogs regularly and you sure know how to "give the finger" to the dark side of "human entrapment". Keep those fantastic stories coming in your electronic diary.

    ...to be continued,

    Ted Steinmetz (Shawnee yesteryear)
